Down on the Allotment

Matron grows vegetables and fruit in a Hampshire garden. I've been growing veggies since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Some traditional varieties and old favourites as well as new ideas. I share my garden with my allotment assistant Daisy the Labrador. On Twitter as @MatronsVeggies

Back in the Garden

So while I was away... this.. turned into..
This! - I look forward to these served thickly sliced on a plate, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil, fresh basil leaves, black pepper and sea salt!
If these trombocino squash are as tasty as they are fun.. they are definitely a keeper. Lots of big squashes to look forward to.
Well this always happens when you go on holiday, doesn't it? Just 10 days ago I picked every single courgette, including those that were only one inch long... and look what happened!
From top to bottom, Defender, Black Forest, Soleil, yellow straightneck.

Iggy's been having a 'to do' with his trombochino. He's in need of a sedative and your experience, Matron!

(Defender is motoring away here)
