Matron's Garden Helper..

It felt like the warmest day of the year so far here in London. Beautiful, bright sunshine all day so I spent the day hard at work. The soil was just a little damp, but perfect for weeding. The greenhouse was hot and bright and my little seedlings are romping away. But Matron has a new garden helper...
Every time I turned my back he was helping... tidy up the bamboo sticks,
cutting them into smaller lengths...
Sorting out the flower pots...
cutting them down to size..
and just lazing around being cute. Actually, for the rest of the afternoon Leo brought most of his toys out of the house and down the end of the garden, then he fell asleep on the lawn in the sunshine. A perfect garden helper!

  1. What a great way to spend an afternoon - that's both of you!

Lucky Leo - I wonder what he's thinking?

  3. What a sweetheart! He looks like he has such a gentle spirit. I'm glad that you two found each other.

My cockers like to help by eating my strawberries and tomatoes. They also turn the compost for me and try to remove any 'good stuff' that they think should not have been thrown out. One even finds the loose pickets in the fence and knocks them out for me. How helpful...

  10. His helping isn't as destructive as when the chickens decide to help you!

  12. What a cutie Leo is. I've got a garden helper that deadheads for me, it's just a shame that the flowers are at their peak when he decides to do it.

  18. Leo looks like such a gentle soul, lucky man that he will spend his vintage years with you. Every gardener should have such an assistant.

I so miss my old chap, he used to "help" with sticks, and gardening gloves, and dirty stagnant water in the bottom of a bucket ...

Perhaps one day my "Management" will agree to us giving a home to a senior citizen, cross my fingers ....
