Down on the Allotment

Matron grows vegetables and fruit in a Hampshire garden. I've been growing veggies since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Some traditional varieties and old favourites as well as new ideas. I share my garden with my allotment assistant Daisy the Labrador.

Stringing Onions

One of the most satisfying jobs in the garden this time of year is stringing onions. There are several different ways of doing this, most of them are based on the same ideas. You can either do it with string, or for purists - like myself - without string.

I will try to take photos, or make drawings to illustrate.

I'll be very interested to see the purist way to do this. It's something I've tried to figure out myself with both my onions and garlic. My attempts never look quite right though and I always think to myself, "there must be a trick to this". Please enlighten us! :D
