George Washington's veggie garden
Yes! even the founder of the nation had a veggie garden. At Mount Vernon, 16 miles South of Washington DC GW was experimenting way back in the 1790s with soil fertility, and took a keen interest in fruit and vegetable growing.
Anyway, as is my habit.... when no one was looking.... I nabbed some bean pods from his garden. The label said "poinciana" not sure at this stage if that is the bean name or something previously in the book. will have to look it up. Quite attractive green pods with pink/red flecks.
