Down on the Allotment

Matron grows vegetables and fruit in a Hampshire garden. I've been growing veggies since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Some traditional varieties and old favourites as well as new ideas. I share my garden with my allotment assistant Daisy the Labrador. On Twitter as @MatronsVeggies

Confused?

Oh Dear! Blogger now tells me that my blog is to full, and I have used up my allowed space for storage.  All options refer me to a site which requires me to pay in US Dollars.  Doesn't seem to like my English Pounds.  Happy Thanksgiving!

I just pay for my extra storage using an Australian credit card - it seems to sort things out all by itself. It is worth doing, I don't think there is any other option.

Can't you just delete some of your older posts that aren't informational?

I've never heard of this? Are you sure it isn't a scam?

Just a thought - know Picassa the photo storage with Blogger has a storage limit - could it be this. If you upgrade to Google+ the limit increases. Images below a certain dpi don't use any storage space. The dpi depends on whether you are a Blogger+ person or not

So sorry to hear of your predicament Matron. I hope you get it solved soon, since I for one will miss your posts.
I got a message from Blogger/Picasa telling me my storage was full, so I just deleted all the photos that I had uploaded to Picasa over the last few months, and now I have a clean slate to work with again.
I will pay for extra Blogger space when the time comes, but not to Picasa, since I store my photos offline.

This sounds very unlikely. Have a look at http://support.google.com/blogger/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=42348 and don't give anyone any money yet.

I assume it is you photo storage space which is filled. That's why I use Flickr and link the pictures. There is also Photobucket though I don't know how easy it is to choose the size you want to display from there.

Hi matron, Blogger seems to be intent on moving us all to another blog publisher with all of the problems etc they seem to be putting in our way. I never realised we had a finite blog storage space?!
I hope you sort it out somehow, i got a bit (a lot) fed up lately and it turned me off even opening my own blog!

PS, I cannot believe Blogger has allowed me to leave a comment at last?! I have to try this again....

Is it just the photo storage that's full? As I understand it you can use Flikr (free) instead and post the html coding into your posts for the photos.

Wow. The only bit on technology I've ever been able to fill was my camera's memory card, I think that was because I was a cheapskate and only bought the cheapest and hense lowest memory.
You must have written an awful lot since you started blogging back in 2006.
The only thing I can suggest is deleteing some of it to free up some space, I don't know if deleting the comments might save you having to delete the posts. Good luck

hi Matron hope you're able to sort this out for blogging without you just doesn't seem like much fun

Yeah, I've just had the same. It was fun while it lasted.

That's very strange because picasa (which manages your blogger photos) offers 1024MB (1GB) of free storage. I've been blogging for 4 years and also post regularly on G+, have loads of albums and photos and am only using 40MB (4,07%) of that space. Hmm...

If it's the photos and you do go down the Flikr route then this post has some info (not my blog btw) and there's a helpful hint in the comments too. :-) Good luck.

I've written a post today about how Blogger stores photos and ways to solve the photo limit problem.

Even if you have reached your limit your can carry on uploading photos if you keep within the free size limit of each photo.

Matron, I forgot to clarify that you should only delete the duplicate photos in your Picasa account. If you delete all photos like I stated, all your photos will disappear from your blog.
Wishing you luck.
