Down on the Allotment

Matron grows vegetables and fruit in a Hampshire garden. I've been growing veggies since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Some traditional varieties and old favourites as well as new ideas. I share my garden with my allotment assistant Daisy the Labrador. On Twitter as @MatronsVeggies

With all the damp weather my raspberries are growing mould before they are ripe enough to pick.

First two on the list, runner ducks! I love them and I'm sure they'd be happy paddling in all that water, we're on our second day of no rain, could it last all weekend, here's hoping!

Yesterday was terrible weather, so far today it has been lovely and sunny but the dark clouds have just come over so I think rain will soon follow. The poor plants are not doing very well, although they like the rain they haven't had the sunshine they also need. Lets hope things change soon.

Yep. At the moment my allotment is growing a rather healthy crop of slugs and snails. They are just loving this weather.

Hi Matron,
I have been reading your blog for some time now, but have never posted before.
Sorry about the copious amounts of rain that you are having, but we surely could use some in Barbados.
